Privacy Policy — Pantry Wizard

Effective Date: March 6, 2026 · Last Updated: March 6, 2026
moonshinerXwerks LLC

We built Pantry Wizard with a privacy-first mindset. Most of your data never leaves your device.

Overview

Pantry Wizard ("the App") is an iOS cooking assistant app developed and operated by moonshinerXwerks LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account information: If you create a free or premium account, we collect your email address and a display name.
  • Dietary preferences and skill level: Stored locally on your device via SwiftData and optionally synced to your personal iCloud account.
  • Ingredients and cupboard items: Stored locally on your device. We do not transmit your ingredient lists to our servers.
  • Custom recipes: Stored locally on your device and, if you choose, synced via your personal iCloud account.
  • Recipe ratings and reviews: If you rate a recipe, your rating may be stored in our Firebase backend associated with your account to improve recipe recommendations.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data: We may collect anonymized, aggregate data about how features are used (e.g., which filters are most commonly applied) to improve the App. This data is not linked to you personally.
  • Crash reports: If the App crashes, anonymized diagnostic information may be collected to help us fix bugs. This does not include your personal data or ingredient information.

1.3 Payment Information

All subscription purchases are processed entirely through Apple's App Store and StoreKit. We never see, store, or process your payment card details. Apple handles all billing; please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for details.

1.4 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect your location.
  • We do not access your camera or photos unless you explicitly choose to add an image to a custom recipe, and those images are stored locally on your device.
  • We do not collect biometric data.
  • We do not sell your data to third parties. Ever.

3. Data Storage and Security

On-Device Storage

The majority of your data — ingredients, cupboard items, favorites, cooking history, and custom recipes — is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data is protected by your device's built-in security (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID).

iCloud Sync

If you are signed into iCloud, your personal app data (cupboard, favorites, preferences) may sync across your devices via Apple's CloudKit. This sync is tied to your personal Apple ID and governed by Apple's iCloud Terms of Service. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

Firebase (Cloud Storage)

Your email address and anonymized recipe ratings are stored in Google Firebase Firestore. Firebase is protected by industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. We use Firebase security rules to ensure only authenticated users can access their own records.

We do not currently implement Firebase App Check but plan to do so prior to public launch to further harden our backend.

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

5. Data Retention

  • Account data: Retained as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 7).
  • Local device data: Persists until you delete the App or manually clear it within the App's settings.
  • Anonymized usage/crash data: Retained for up to 12 months in aggregate form, then deleted.
  • Subscription records: Apple maintains transaction records per their own retention policies.

6. Children's Privacy

Pantry Wizard is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected].

We will respond to verified requests within 30 days.

8. California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information.

We do not sell personal information. For any CCPA requests, contact us at [email protected].

9. International Users

Pantry Wizard is operated in the United States. If you are accessing the App from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers are located. By using the App, you consent to this transfer.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document and, for material changes, notify you via an in-app notice or email. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
